The AOPA “You Can Fly!” Program

The AOPA “You Can Fly!” High School Curriculum

The AOPA “You Can Fly!” initiative provides eligible schools with all the curriculum, activities, assessments, and presentations needed to conduct the courses over a 180-day school year at no cost. The curriculum is aligned to the CCSS and the NGSS. Materials lists are provided to complete all of the activities, and most schools will find that they already have many of the supplies on campus. The start up costs of each course is generally less than $500 per course, per school.

Schools must apply to AOPA receive the curriculum, and most schools easily meet the requirements. Both the application and the curriculum are free of charge. As part of receiving the program, AOPA requires schools to fill out quarterly information surveys regarding the curriculum, and new aviation teachers must attend online training to learn about the curriculum.
