Your Student’s Aviation Career Starts Here!

Guiding Your Students to Careers in Aviation

The AOPA “You Can Fly!” High School Curriculum

The AOPA You Can FLY! Initiative was designed to help high schools train students for a career in aviation, as either a pilot, or as an unmanned aerial systems (also known as drones) operator. This program was started nationwide in the fall of 2018, and to date, more than 300 schools across the United States use the free AOPA program.

Civil Air Patrol Aerospace Education Member

The Civil Air Patrol (CAP) is the volunteer, nonprofit auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force, and it allows students to participate as cadets in various aviation activities, and explore careers in aviation and in the military.  Your students do not have to join the military to be a CAP Cadet, and these activities are conducted independently of the student’s school.

As an educator, you can join CAP as an Aerospace Education Member (AEM), and enjoy many free aerospace/STEM educational opportunities for your classrooms.

Pathways to Aviation

We work closely with schools to provide career readiness resources to students and guidance counselors.

Aviation Technician Education Council

The “Choose Aerospace” aviation maintenance curriculum puts students on a pathway to FAA mechanic certification. The curriculum—intended for use in a high school setting over the course of two years—uses a hybrid approach to learning, combining traditional delivery methods (classroom, textbook, and in-person labs) with e-learning methods (video lecture, e-book, virtual and augmented reality simulations and exercises) using a nationally deployable e-learning platform. It is intended to be used in the classroom, but many of the elements can be taught online, or student-paced. Minimal equipment and materials are required.
